Les ports coloniaux espagnols du bassin des Caraïbes (1520-1820) - Conférence (en français) par Claude Alix

Dans les années 1520, la découverte, l’exploration et la colonisation des Amériques par l'Espagne n’est possible qu’en contrôlant le bassin des Caraïbes : pour ce faire elle doit donc imaginer et construire toute une infrastructure portuaire et militaire de villes côtières.
Là, les galions y trouveront protection et ravitaillement, les marchands pourront négocier achat et vente de marchandises, les autorités administratives pourront organiser l’expansion colonisatrice… et exercer les ponctions nécessaires au financement des opérations!
On en trouve la trace en examinant des documents anciens (cartes maritimes, plans de villes fortifiées,…). Un voyage épique où la cartographie se marie avec l’Histoire pour faire revivre cette formidable épopée coloniale.
Des cartes anciennes seront exposées à cette occasion. Une partie des bénéfices de la vente des cartes sera reversée à l'Alliance Française.
